Allen is a native of East Tennessee and a graduate of The University of Tennessee. He and his wife have been married 22 years and have two children, Abby and Sam. Allen is active in his church, and enjoys coaching his children's baseball, softball and football teams. He has also served as the president of the board of trustees at his children's school. When not working, he and his family spend time on their farm fishing, gardening and raising animals.
